The city is 95 kilometers away and 115 kilometers away from Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu Province. The district has 3050 square kilometers, 111 villages and 7 communities. At the end of 2011, the population was 620,200, and there were 15 ethnic groups including Tibet, Yunnan, Tu, Han, and Han.
