Shangri-La folk art tour
香格里拉民艺之旅
Nixi Tangdui Village is a small village between Shangri-La and Deqin County in Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan. Looking towards Shika Snow Mountain from National Highway 318, the village is at the foot of the mountain. Here traditional pottery is a craft with a history going back over a thousand years. Visitors to Shangri-La today can personally experience authentic earthenware production techniques and know more about the longhistory and outstanding craftsmanship that go into producing Nixi’s traditional black pottery.
尼西汤堆村，云南迪庆藏族自治州香格里拉县至德钦县路边的一个小乡村。站在 318 国道上向山脚看去，尼西村遥遥地位于石卡雪山脚下，这里沿袭着一千多年前的民间制陶工艺。如今到香格里拉旅行的游客可以选择一个叫做尼西土陶之旅的菜单，到汤堆村参观体验尼西土陶制作工艺，感受尼西黑陶传递的时间厚度和手工温度。

To “domesticate” orchids is to change them from plants accustomed to a wild environment to species viable under human-rearing,a process inherently necessitates alteration of some of their wild traits through certain methods for adjustment in new environment.
兰花驯化，是指野生兰花从野生状态到家养状态，由于生态环境的改变，须采取一定的方法逐步改变它原来的野生习性、适应新的生长条件的过程。

Dai civilization with a history of thousands of years originated from Ruili City, Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan. Ancient Guozhanbi Kingdom, Chengxiang Kingdom and Luchuan Kingdom (in Ming Dynasty) brought the development of Dai culture to its climax which then extended essential influence over Southeast Asian countries.
云南德宏傣族景颇族自治州瑞丽市，是傣族文明的发祥地，更是傣族文化的摇篮。千百年来，这里的傣族人民积淀了灿烂辉煌的历史文化，从古代的勐果占壁王国到滇越乘象国、再到明代的麓川王国，这三大王国的相继建立曾一度让瑞丽的傣族文化发展至顶峰，并在东南亚国家中颇具影响力。

Yang Xingchen is no stranger in coin collecting circles of Yunnan; even his peers say “He’s really crazy about coin collecting.” Yang himself recalled: “During my youth, I’d forgo normal food and drink to collect coins. Even if I just ate instant noodles for days, I’d still enjoy collecting!”
在云南的钱币收藏圈，提起杨星辰，大家都会不由得评价：“他可是个痴迷的人。”杨星辰自己也说：“我年轻时为了攒钱收藏钱币，不惜牺牲自己的正常饮食，几天都吃泡面。吃泡面的那些日子，还很快乐。”

Simao reduction woodblock prints: Reborn indestruction
思茅绝版木刻：毁灭中重生
Making a reduction woodblock print takes more than a month, requiring over 20 kinds of carving tools, hundreds of carving methods, and thousands of times of carving. When the print is completed, it can never be re-edited because the blocks were destroyed by the reduction process—making the non-reproducible work invaluable.
绝版木刻发源于云南省普洱市思茅区，是在传统套色木刻基础上发展起来的一种凸版技法，它的发明为木刻艺术带来史诗般的变革。一幅绝版木刻版画的制作，通常历时一月以上，用到 20多种刀具，上百种刀法，反复刻画数万次。版画的诞生就意味着刻印木板的毁灭，作品的不可再生性让其弥足珍贵。

Dating Yunnan in Delhi on Valentine’s Day
情人节在德里遇见云南
It takes five hours to travel from Kunming to Delhi by airplane. Invited by Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, I paid a visit to the capital city Delhi and technology center Bangalore from February 12 to 19 during the peak season of tourism. It was fascinating to be around this pleasantly surprising rendezvous between an exotic land and Yunnan.
从昆明出发到印度德里，5 个小时航程。正值印度最佳旅游季，应印度外交部邀请，2 月 12 日至 19 日，本报记者来到印度首都德里和科技中心班加罗尔，在浓浓的异域风情中，与云南不期而遇。

咀嚼大自然的颜色
Sticky rice (alsocalled“glutinous rice”, “sweet rice”), dyed into bright colors using naturalplant juices; Zongzi (sticky rice steamed wrapped in green leaves) and dark redbeef shreds. Shizong’s local specialties aren’t just mouth-watering; they are atrue feast for eyes.
“米饭染着吃，牛肉烧着吃，小鱼舂碎吃，糯米包着吃”，这是云南省曲靖市师宗壮乡的一句顺口溜，三月三到师宗，能把顺口溜里的美味都吃一遍。用天然植物染成的五彩糯米饭、绿叶包裹着的粽子、暗红色的手撕干巴……来自大自然的七彩颜色，让师宗壮乡有了更丰富的味觉。
